Getting enough sleep isn’t just about feeling rested—it helps with focus, mood, and overall health. If you’re struggling to fall asleep or wake up groggy, setting up a sleep routine can make a huge difference. Here’s how to do it:

1. Pick a Consistent Bedtime

Your body thrives on routine, so aim to go to bed and wake up at the same time every day—even on weekends! Pick a bedtime that allows you to get 8–10 hours of sleep.

2. Create a Wind-Down Routine

Spend at least 30 minutes before bed doing relaxing activities like reading, journaling, or listening to calm music. Avoid screens, as blue light from phones and laptops can mess with your sleep hormones.

3. Limit Caffeine and Sugar

Avoid energy drinks, soda, or coffee in the afternoon and evening. These can keep you wired and make it harder to fall asleep.

4. Make Your Sleep Space Comfortable

Keep your room cool, dark, and quiet. If noise is an issue, try white noise or soft music. A comfy pillow and mattress can also help improve sleep quality.

5. Stay Active During the Day

Regular exercise can help you fall asleep faster and sleep more deeply. Just try not to work out too close to bedtime, as it might leave you feeling too energized.

6. Avoid Late-Night Naps

A long nap in the evening can make it harder to fall asleep at night. If you need to nap, keep it under 30 minutes and before late afternoon.

7. Put Your Phone Away

Scrolling late at night can keep your brain wired. Set a “no-phone” rule 30–60 minutes before bed or use a sleep mode setting to reduce distractions.

8. Be Patient and Adjust as Needed

It takes time for your body to adjust to a new routine. If you slip up, don’t stress—just get back on track the next night.

Building a solid sleep routine takes effort, but once you get it down, you’ll wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day!
